Gate Razer

To kick off the opening of the Moose gate (on May 15th), we are hosting a social ride to bring the stoke on Sunday May 14th. We aim to offer two different rides (weather and condition dependent) - one on a blue trail, and one on a black trail if conditions allow. Trails will be released the day before, but no matter what we ride you know the vibes are going to be good.

Annual General Meeting

The MMBTS AGM is typically held in late April in the city of Calgary. The AGM is a forum to:

  • Allow potential and current members to engage with the MMBTS executive and the MMBTS community,

  • Educate potential MMBTS members on what MMBTS is all about,

  • Update attendees about the past year’s events and financials,

  • Inform attendees of planned future events and initiatives,

  • Vote in candidates for open executive positions,

  • Give sponsors a chance to connect with the MMBTS community.

Fiver Races

MMBTS hosts 3-4 Fiver Races on Moose Mountain each year. These races are held on progressively more difficult (blue/intermediate to black/advanced) trails to encourage riders to come out, have fun, and race against their peers while building their skills in a fun, encouraging environment. These races are not serious, and all members are encouraged to participate. The fiver races typically see 60+ riders per event.

Trail Days

Each year MMBTS hosts 5+ trail days. Trail days are scheduled throughout the season to ensure the trails are in good condition and safe to ride. Trail maintenance can range from a light sweep (clearing rocks and other small debris from the trail), to clearing fallen trees, updating technical trail features (TTFs) (jumps, berms), or re-routing trail lines that have become worn or need a refresh.

Trail days are managed by the director of trails, with support from the MMBTS executive team. Small volunteer groups, led by experienced trail builders from the MMBTS executive team, are dispatched to the various trails to be worked on that day.

Volunteers are both MMBTS members and non-members who ride Moose Mountain and want to contribute. Trail days are followed by a social barbecue to thank all the volunteers for their hard work, and help build the mountain bike community.

Ladies’ Enduro Rides

In 2017 MMBTS added ladies-focused guided enduro rides to our events roster. These rides are open to everyone, not just women, but are intended to encourage more women to get into mountain biking. The ladies’ enduro rides are guided by a member of the MMBTS executive and focus on the trail to be ridden in the next fiver race.

MooseDuro Enduro Race

The first locally organized enduro race held on Moose Mountain was MooseDuro on October 1, 2017. Jointly put on by MMBTS, and local coaches and guides, Alberta 66 Mountain Biking, the multi-stage enduro race includes a long and a short course. The race is suited for intermediate to advanced riders and has a max capacity of 150 racers total for both categories. The race is volunteer-run and community sponsored.

Poker Ride

The annual Poker Ride is the final event hosted by MMBTS each season. Poker Rides are fun, casual rides, not races, where participants collect a card for each trail they ride during the day. Prizes are given for riders with the best poker hands at the end of the day. Poker rides include trails on Moose Mountain for all skill levels, and are open to all MMBTS members.
