Moosepackers

Difficulty level:  (Blue) XC/All Mountain (two-way, downhill shuttle possible)/ Easiest (Intermediate if climbing up from the switchbacks on)

How to access: For climbing the trail, park at Station Flats parking lot and head north on Tom Snow.  To downhill shuttle the trail, park at the Moose Mountain Summit parking lot and take Moose Mountain Fire Road to the T-intersection at the bottom of the rocky hill where you will turn right.

Trail length: Approx. 11 km (including Tom Snow), Climbing you can expect 1-2 hrs.  Descending you can expect ½ hr – 1 1/2 hrs.

Features: This trail is an old classic that can be used as a climb or as a fast descent that is a bit rolling as you reach the lower part. As a climb from Station Flats, you would take Tom Snow north. It is a wide trail that often has water drainage problems so please avoid widening it more by skirting the puddles.  The trail is relatively less steep here but has some physically demanding sections.  You would then take a left on the gravel road that you come to and climb until it turns into singletrack which is where Moosepackers starts.  Moosepackers is steeper and has several technically demanding switchbacks.  Once finished the switchbacks, the trail continues to climb and drop you off on Moose Mountain Fire Rd.  Take a left to reach the summit parking lot or a right to ride to the summit of Moose Mountain.  This trail is popular with several user groups so be courteous and yield to other users or riders descending the trail.
