June 9th Trail Day in Review

While the morning started out quite rainy it did not scare MMBTS volunteers away. We came out in numbers for our third official trail day of the year. “There is no bad weather only bad gear” said one volunteer. A garbage bag kilt turned out to be good rain protection for one participant who wore it “in the spirit of world cup races at Fort William, Scotland this weekend”.
Coffee from Starbucks – Creekside was available for all builders and a selection of door prizes from Pedalhead were also given out. The trail day was very successful with crews sent down Toothless, Jean-Guy and Race of Spades. Much progress was also made on a new jumpline in the T-Dub gully. Link to photo. Additionally about 110m of new trail was benched on Family Guy. It was great seeing new and returning faces who put a day’s effort into trail improvement.

The day wrapped up with a BBQ, sponsored by Pedalhead and excellently executed by the Barcham family. The bacon burgers were a big hit and there was plenty of food, snacks and desserts to go around. A thank you goes out to today’s sponsors, including individuals who donated our BBQs, and most importantly those who dug dirt maintaining and growing our flow.
Please be advised that Sunday’s (June 10) planned race on Toothless has been postponed due to weather and trail conditions to Saturday June 23rd. Please respect the work maintenance volunteers did today by not riding the trails in wet muddy conditions.
