——– MP TED MENZIES COMING TO TRAIL DAY
———————————-
…. News Flash!! — Member of Parliament Ted Menzies
http://www.tedmenzies.ca/ is slated to join us for some trail
building! His family and the media will be there as well.
Regardless of your political affiliations, *this is a huge opportunity*
to show the government that there is a strong mountain biking community
here. Let Ted know that we need more and better trails to ride! We
want to get as many people out for Saturday's trail day as possible, so
please come and show your support for the trails!
…. If you can only get out to one trail day this year – this should be it!!
*When:* Saturday, August 22, 10:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. Please try to be on
time. This event goes rain or shine [within reason]! If you're running
late, just go directly to the work site. /After the work is done, we'll be
firing up the BBQ and having some hot eats and cold treats!!/
*Where:* Meet at the Station Flats parking area [click for map
http://maps.google.com/maps/ms.....f3d089b515].
From there we will ride [or walk] up Tom Snow to the actual work site, just
before the second bridge.
*What We'll Be Doing:* This is the second trail that will become the bypass
route for much of Tom Snow. We'll be doing a fair bit of heavy work,
including clearing a lot of deadfall and roughing in the trail. By the end
of the day, we hope to link two sections of trail together.
*Why:* After years and years of riding through the mix of mud and cow poop
that develops on Tom Snow every year, we'll have alternate routes.
*What to Bring:* We'll be in the woods, so wear appropriate clothing. We
recommend sturdy work boots or hiking boots, work gloves, long pants and a
jacket. Dress for the weather. Bring enough water for the day and some
lunch. Remember – anything you pack in, you also need to pack out,
including any recyclables or trash. CMBA will be providing some tools, but
if you have a favourite chainsaw, mattock, Pulaski, rake or Mcleod, feel free
to bring it. Shovels will not be needed.
——– FAQ
—————————————————————–
*Q: Is this legal?*
A: yes! The CMBA has TFA to work on several trail projects in the
area, and this is one of them.
*Q: Can I bring my bike so I can ride the trail afterwards?*
A: Definitely! It will make it easier/faster to get to the work site.
*Q: How many people do you need?
*
A: The more the merrier, but we'd like to see at least 40 people out.
