OPEN! The first part of the Pneuma EV to SS reroute is now open, and it needs you to ride it in. The trail is new and raw and needs as many tires as possible on it in order to see where the finishing work needs to be done. When climbing Pneuma, just as you cross EV, look to the right and you will see the entrance to the new section of trail. It will spit you out back on Hot Laps about half way up, so use caution and yield to the downhill riders.

Now, time to start working on part two. Part two will pick up where part one left off and connect with the Sulphur Springs reroute that CMBA built last year. When this is done, Pneuma and Hot Laps will be completely separate trails.

pwew, removing the duff has been tough going. The first 4 inches of organic matter is very matted and full of intertwined roots. Most of the time is spent cutting this layer into pieces so that it can be raked away. As such, progress has been slow. To account for this, I've split the reroute into two sections; part 1 and part 2. There is a ravine half way up that makes for a logical break between the two sections. We'll finish part 1 and open it to bike traffic before starting part 2.

75% of the tread for part 1 is ready to be opened. That leaves about 100m of tread to be cut. My rule of thumb is one person can cut 10m of tread an hour, so there is about 10 more man-hours before part 1 can be opened. The trail will be raw so we need lots of bike traffic on it in order to see where to fine tune it.

I have a couple of ideas I want to try that may increase productivity. As always, your assistance is welcomed

Looks like some jerks on horses completely destroyed leg 2 from station flats of Ridgeback. There are huge horse troughs between roots....all that trail building gone in a moment. Looks like several horses went through in the mud and rain.

The new MMBTS map shows the intersection - Pneuma actually goes further than what's shown on the map.

No, Pneuma crosses ROS and keeps on heading up to Special K. Pneuma does not go back to the road.

Ride it, you'll see.

No, right at the intersection of ROS and Pneuma there is a trail running off to the east (left facing downhill).

Pneuma disappears to the road after ROS and restarts 1km up at the GAS well shack.

Pneuma continues past ROS, past Special K then drops in at the fork of the Moose Mountain Fire Lookout and Moose Packers trail.

Not sure if that's the trail your thinking of.

Top of Race of Spades there is an intersection ROS and Pneuma with another branch to tle east. Does anyone know where that goes or is it just a bypass?

Question if anyone can answer. At the top of Race of Spades where it connects with Pneuma there is a branch that runs east or to the left at the intersection. Where does it go?

Rode Pneuma and Race of Spades today all in A1 shape very dry.

the connector between lower Pneuma and middle Pneuma has been flagged. This will separate Pneuma and Hot Laps. Send me a message if you want to help with the trail work.

Trail is all and all in good condition. It will be getting some love on the May8th trail day but is a good push up option right now with the road still closed. Just watch when it crosses the XC trail the route is not completely obvious if it's your first time down

Please be aware there are changes at the bottom of Jean-Guy on the Rocks, please inspect before you ride. There is still work required to tie everything together but it will improve the line and reduce soil erosion.
