Successful May 9th trail day!
May 9th 2009 started off as a dark and desolate morning. I was driving out to Moose Mountain for the Moose Mountain Bike Trail Society’s (MMBTS) first ever trail day as an official organization. All the months of hard work of the MMBTS volunteers was to finally touch down on our trails this very morning. The skies were dark, our trails mostly still covered in snow and the threat of some major precipitation seemed apparent. Yet, I had this underlying calmness, this deep know, that somehow today would go down in Alberta biking history as the most successful trail day to date. Read the rest of this entry »
Moose Mtn – Opening Weekend – TRAILS ARE SNOW COVERED!
It’s been 166 days since the Moose Mtn road closed for winter, taking away access to our beloved singletrack. We’ve endured a long winter, and we’re all excited that May 15th is finally upon us. That’s right – the date that the road opens every spring for vehicle traffic. This spring, Mother Nature hasn’t been as kind as in recent years, and parts of the winter snowpack still remain in areas that don’t get a lot of direct sunlight. That’s right, Bragg Creek residents had to brush the snow off their shuttle trucks this morning in order to get out of the driveway for the long weekend. Read the rest of this entry »

The Creation of MMBTS
This winter has been revolutionary for the Calgary and area mountain bike community. With the record cold snaps and the trails buried under snow for the past 5 months a group of builders and riders have come together to organize and begin building a relationship with the Alberta government.
A network of riding buds have been hard at work for close to ten years; And the work done this winter has given way to the creation of the Moose Mountain Bike Trail Society (MMBTS). Read the rest of this entry »
Moose Mountain Needs You
Riders of Moose Mountain,
Big News towards the stewardship of our trails!
On January 20, 2009 a meeting was called by the builders /riders of Moose to discuss and form a “plan of action” towards the progress of our trail network and community. Timing was right to get organized and form a not for profit Society and to be a unified voice for our trails. The established Society is to include both the DH and XC communities and has been registered as a Not for Profit organization
Moose Mountain – 2008 the Year in Review
2008 marked an amazing season for the trails and riding community out at Moose Mountain.
For those not in the know, Moose Mountain plays host to the fat tires and ear-to-ear grins of riders from and surrounding Calgary Alberta and includes a good mix of XC and DH, on an extensive trail network of close to 80km of single track.
