Day 1 of the film festival premieres two films. Showing on June 10, Barred For Life, the latest film by BC filmmaker Bjorn Aunet, was filmed in Norway, Utah, and British Columbia. Barred for Life will get anyone ready for a great riding season after a long Calgary winter.

Also premiering June 10, is the Irish downhill film, Break the Cycle. This film features ten of the best riders in Ireland. Filled with amazing Irish scenery, great riding, and an amazing soundtrack, Break the Cycle (pre-release version) will pull you from the theatre right to the trail.

Day 2 of the film festival showcases two more films. The Freedom Riders is a documentary about a core group of riders who set out to build illicit downhill trails in the Teton Mountains. After an eight-year battle with the Forestry service, an official trail system is in place, for the exclusive use of downhill riders.

Also premiering June 11 is The Tipping Point, the latest film from Clay Porter (Between the Tape and F1RST). The Tipping Point features the 2008 World Cup Downhill series and championships. The Tipping Point shows the World Cup Downhill circuit in all its glory.

The films are showing at the Plaza Theatre (1133 Kensington Road NW, Calgary, AB) June 10 and 11. Tickets are $10 in advance and $12 at the door (ticket prices are per night). Tickets can be purchased in advance at Ridley’s Cycle (223 10 St NW, Calgary, AB) and The Bike Shop (801 11 Ave SW, Calgary, AB). Doors open at 6:30 p.m. both nights and the films start at 7:00 p.m.

Fifty percent of the profits from the Calgary showing of the films will be donated to Right to Play an international humanitarian organization that uses sport and play programs to improve health, develop life skills, and foster peace for children and communities in some of the most disadvantaged areas of the world.

Four great mountain bike films and tons of door prizes, two nights that should not be missed
