Trail Day in Review: Saturday May 12th

A crowd of 43 signed in at Ing’s Mine parking lot and had a better than ¼ chance of winning a Ridley’s gift card.  A few more trickled in throughout the day bringing our total to 54.

Those needing a shot of caffeine (myself included), were treated to coffee provided by Starbucks, Creekside.

Due to the snowy weather earlier in the week, trail care was focused on the trails Jean-Guy and Family Guy.

Trail Day – This Saturday

MMBTS will be having another trail day this weekend on Saturday (May 12th). This week we’ll be splitting up volunteers to tackle a greater range of trails in order to get the mountain ready for when the gate opens on the 15th. Work will continue on the new trail Family Guy as well with ground work starting on section 3 of the trail! MMBTS will be loaning out tools for the day, but you’re encouraged to bring your own if you have them (we ran out of pick mattocks last weekend). With 800 meters of trail built last week in a single day it’s clear MMBTS is only just beginning to realize its potential as a community. Strength in numbers indeed…

Meet in the Ing’s Mine parking lot at 10:30am. We’ll work for the day and then celebrate the start of a new season with a post trail building BBQ.  Hope to see lots of you there!

Toonie Race Series – The Overall Results

2011 was the first time MMBTS has held a toonie race series, and it also represented the return of local, non-competitive (sort of) racing to the Calgary community. With a total of 4 races and and 96 unique racers showing up I think it’s fair to say the series was a great success! Read More »
